The automaker says the S-Class can steer itself in city traffic as well as stay it in its lane while maintaining speeds of over 120MPH on a highway, under the right conditions (of course). The car can also park itself, brake automatically to avoid hitting people or other cars, and can even tell when a driver is becoming fatigued. Mercedes compared the self-driving feature it to a plane’s autopilot system, in which the plane can perform most of the routine tasks needed to reach its destination while a human watches over to keep a look out for trouble. While this gets us closer to cars that drive all by themselves, we’re still not entirely there. The next step for the Mercedes S-Class will be for the car to automatically change lanes at autobahn speeds. Drivers (can we even call them that?) will still be required by law to keep at least one hand on the wheel at all times, so you won’t exactly be able to shave on your way to work just yet (not that it stopped you before). Still, it’s another major corporation that has now set its sights on autonomous cars. We don’t have many details about the film itself yet, other than that Michael Fassbender will both act in and co-produce it. It’s suspected he will play Desmond Miles, but his role hasn’t been confirmed. Michael Lesslie is attached to the project as a writer, and Conor McCaughan has been brought on as another producer. Questions about the film still swirl: who will direct? What’s the plot? And perhaps most importantly, will it be any good? Considering the fate of other video game-related films, it’s best not to expect too much. Here’s hoping the movie will live up to the epic feel of the games. With Cannes underway, smaller film festivals are releasing their big cheeses to worm their way into audiences’ minds. And it is working! Edinburgh International Film Festival have just announced that they will be showing Monsters University at the Festival Theatre in 3D on Sunday 23rd June. That’s not all… there will also be a school screening on Monday 24th June at the local Cineworld. This announcement shows the loyal relationship between Edinburgh Film Festival and Disney/Pixar. Throughout recent years, audiences have been allowed to view new animated releases such as WALL-E, Toy Story 3, Ratatouille and Brave before their UK release date. Monsters University follows the educational life of Mike (Billy Crystal) and James P. `Sulley’ Sullivan (John Goodman). The soon-to-be partners meet at university but their friendship is non-existent. It is only when both Mike and Sulley get expelled from the university’s elite Scare Program, does their strained relationship start to grow. Monsters University will join American drama Breathe In as well as romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending, which stars Scotland’s finest Karen Gillan (Amy Pond from the Doctor Who series). The Verge reports that the update will enter into a public beta sometime in late June or early July. Sources have also said that  the user interface will have smaller Live Tiles akin to the upcoming Windows 8.1 design. There is also a possibility that Microsoft will be changing up the dashboard with either darker or lighter themes. You never know until you know, ya know?  The update would allow users to get acquainted with the new dashboard, making the transition to the next gen console a little easier. Sources told The Verge that Microsoft will phase out their points system with the update, replacing it with currency and gift card options. Should the public beta testing go according to plan, the final update will supposedly be made available in August. Fans of the Canadian comedy were shocked when the Space Television Network (it’s like Canada’s HBO) canceled the show in 2012 after only two seasons. A petition was created on change.org to bring back the show, but failed. Now the creators have decided to bring Todd and the gang back for one last hoorah in an animated movie (#ReanimateTodd). The catch is that they need your help to make it happen and have created an Indiegogo campaign to raise $75,000. Depending on the size of your donation you can receive some pretty cool stuff as well. The campaign closes on Saturday, June 8th so put the lead out, people. For anyone who has not watched the show the story follows: “Todd, Curtis, Jenny, and Hannah are students at Crowley High, the only high school in a small town secretly founded by Satanists. After encountering a cursed magical tome with a mind of its own, the Book of Pure Evil, which grants the wishes of those who hold it in dark and sinister ways they didn’t intend, they team up in an attempt to track down and destroy the Book, although it has an unfortunate tendency to fly away after its spells are undone. Each episode revolves around a student at Crowley High using the Book to try to make their life better, though this usually results in chaos, mayhem, and bloodshed at the school.” Also the role of Jimmy the Janitor is played by Jason Mewes. A streetwise janitor who tires of cleaning up blood, sleeps with the school’s female faculty and staff, and supplies the gang with various weapons to assist them with taking down the book.  So really, what’s not to love? Keep in mind that this award-winning series was not canceled due to poor viewership. In fact a lot of people watched it on Space’s website (and pirated). However, the channel could not account for the online viewers in the ratings and canceled it. So people who engaged in online piracy and doomed the show, this is your chance for redemption. Though everyone should band together to ensure this animated movie is made. You don’t want to look back on your life and regret not contributing do you?
